REFINER'S FIRE

Some time ago, a few ladies met in a certain city to read the scriptures and make them the subject of conversation. While reading the third chapter of Malachi they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse.”  And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.” One lady’s opinion was that it was intended to convey the view of the sanctifying influence of the grace of Christ. Then she proposed to visit a silversmith and report to them what he said on the subject. She went accordingly and without telling the object of her errand, begged to know the process of refining silver, which he fully described to her.

IS ACCOUNTABILITY A THING OF THE PAST?

One of the things I absolutely will not tolerate in my life is lies. While I understand that most all children have to be taught not to lie, so I know my struggle with my children lying is normal. Most all parents have to teach their children not to lie.

What I find interesting is how many adults lie. Were they not taught that lying is not acceptable?

What is sad is that these days lies have become so acceptable that no one is held accountable for them.

Just A Simple Prayer

Tonight I pray just a simple prayer. It is the prayer that I continue to pray every day. I pray for Congesswoman Giffords complete recovery.

The world continues to spin out of control. Jesus, this world needs you so desperately!

I pray these things in the Name of Jesus- Amen.

THE UGLINESS OF HYPOCRISY

It amazes me, in a very sad way, how hypocrisy is such an intricate part of society today. Just a little more than a month ago Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was gunned down by a sociopath. Before she made it to the hospital, accusations from the main stream media and political left that the "Tea Party/Conservatives/Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin/Fox News people" were behind this or the cause of it.

We heard endless reports of how the rhetoric had gotten out of hand. It was "Sarah Palin's fault" because she had put a map of The United States up during the 2010 campaign with pictures of "targets" over specific Congressional seats. Congresswoman Giffords was one of the people in office that was "targeted."

SOME DAYS WORDS ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH

Writing is my outlet. It is easier for me to focus on what I want and need to say if I write it. However, some days there are just not words to express the thoughts or feelings that whirl around endlessly in my brain.

Today is one of those days. There are so many thoughts and feelings colliding. So today, I will simply just be still and I can do.

Lord God, thank You for all that You are. In these moments thee is nothing better than just being still and knowing that You alone are God.

Please heal Congresswoman Giffords, Lord God. Please use her life, the tragedy that has become Your miracle to open the eyes of the world that is so very blind.

All I am and all I have I give to you, Lord Jesus. In Your Holy Name I pray, Amen.

THE ENEMY WITHIN

On today's show, Glenn Beck talked about the enemy within. This sums up my frustration over the past few years. Our country is being ripped apart by the citizens and leaders who have been elected to protect our freedom.

I've talked several times here about how frustrating it is that so many people just make no sense anymore. I know that it is just another Bible Scripture coming true, but it is frustrating none the less.

Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

Almost every day this Scripture is glaringly proven to be the days we are in. Unfortunately, woe to these people!

IT'S ONLY A MIRACLE

I believe it is truly only a miracle of God that has prevented more violence and tragedy to come out of the political divide that is going on in our country.

I know I've said this many times already, in this prayer blog, but it saddens me to see where our country is. Our current president has done nothing but cause a larger divide between the citizens of this country. He is supposed to be a uniter. He SHOULD be a uniter! He is the first black president this nation has ever had! That is a HUGE accomplishment, given our historical past. He is in a very unique position where he could literally abolish the majority of racial tension. However, he has done the opposite.

Things always roll downhill. So if the leader of an organization seeks to divide, the organization itself grows into a huge tool of division.

A TIME FOR EVERYTHING

Ecclesiastes 3 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture in the Bible. We are told in this passage that there is a time for everything. There is a time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to uproot. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them. A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to search and a time to give up. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

Interestingly enough, though this is one of my favorite passages of Scripture, I don't always put this in perspective. With all that is going on in the world I don't often stop, remove myself completely from the news and goings on of the world and focus on what time it is in my life.

Tonight I had the opportunity to do that. One of my dearest friends got married tonight. But this was no "ordinary" wedding- not that any wedding is exactly ordinary. I absolutely believe that every union is unique, special, and out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, too often we do not look at it this way. So often, it is just "something to do" or "something that automatically comes next" or "something that is expected".

But this wedding is unique for so many reasons.
